'Access to the material used for every lesson is available through an online link. You can view the video of the actual lesson as many times as you want. There is also access to an audio link of the lesson and to the lesson notes so that all learning styles are catered for. We both liked the amusing illustrations shown on the lesson video and the lesson summary. These helped us to remember key words and phrases. We also found the chats in class helpful in giving us ways to remember the French we had been given. Eg. The man in a bath covered in a duvet. 👋👋 Re-bonjour! Let me introduce myself...

I’m CécileBB and I’m a bi-lingual qualified teacher of French with many years experience of teaching. My mother is French and my father is English. I was born in Canada but we moved to France and then settled in the UK mainly in Yorkshire.

As well as languages - psychology, the brain and how people learn are my passion. That's why I did the weird combination of French and Psychology at uni. Due to these interests, I've put the fun into learning by teaching everyday conversation in an entertaining way and at times downright daft 🤪  ways that inspire you to pluck up the courage to speak in French however bad it may be! Having fun and reducing anxiety means you learn more easily and the language sticks more to your brain. 🧠

👩‍🏫  I’ve been teaching languages since 1993 and I've been a student of other foreign languages doing formal lessons and online lessons. I have a lot of experience both as a teacher (to kids & adults) and as a student of foreign languages myself. I have created the kind of course I wish I could have had. Many courses I did and teachers I had were good but for me what was missing was the spark of the teacher – let's just say the humour was often lacking. The best teachers at school were the ones who ‘saw’ you, ‘believed’ in you – not the wooden teachers but the ones who gave you a bit of themselves – they were the ones that could make you laugh – that noticed if you were down, that knew that learning wasn’t always plain sailing. The best teachers were the ones that didn’t leave you feeling inadequate or lacking in intelligence. The best teachers showed you how to learn and how to enjoy learning and that learning is for everyone. I want to be that kind of teacher.

⛓️ Escapism

I LOVE CREATING ENGAGING COURSES - not only practical but something you look forward to doing. One of my favourite reviews said ‘It’s not boring!’ 

Another student told me how she was spiralling into a dark place but luckily managed to motivate herself to start learning French to stimulate herself. Many people expect so much of themselves that if they’re not fluent after 5 lessons they think they’re doing something wrong or they’re not clever enough. But it took at least 5 years of full-time training to learn your native language.

Learning a foreign language for fun means you're not aiming to be bi-lingual – you’re aiming to get your message across any which way you can.

You wouldn’t take up skiing 🎿 and expect to be at the next Winter Olympics which is the level some people expect to be when they take up language learning. You will learn loads but we’re not looking for an Olympic level here – be prepared to fall over a lot.  Get back up again, dust the snow off yourself, pop your skis back on and set off...
