This course is for you if:

⭐️  you're a total beginner

⭐️  you just love France and all things French (🎹  accordion, 🧀  fromage, 🍷 vin, 🍪  pâtisserie, 🏛️ l'histoire...)

⭐️  you go to France as often as you can or you'd love to (🌊  la Provence, 🌳  la Dordogne, 🏰  la Normandie, les Alpes 🏔  ...)

⭐️  you last studied French years ago and wanted to update your knowledge to the French spoken on the streets today rather than textbook French

⭐️  you have family living in France 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

⭐️  you just fancy learning a language to keep your brain sharper 🧠

'I have tried various French teaching methods - books, Cds and online - but the quality of Cecile's videos surpasses them all. They are bright, engaging and funny and use all kinds of imagery to make words and phrases stick to your brain. She pauses for you to have a go, then builds on each theme, taking turns with you to repeat and expand your vocabulary. The videos also work well as audio, useful on car journeys. These are very polished and thoughtfully produced and make some of the big-name products seem so dull!' Steve Ellis

Which one are you?

👶 Beginner

If you’re a beginner you’ll be amazed at how much progress can be made in just 15 lessons.

‘Learning a language as an adult was fairly daunting and I didn’t actually think I would take it in. Cecile makes learning fun, effortless and interesting and you’ll find you’ve actually learnt a lot of a new language without realising and thinking too much. It just sort of sticks! You’ll find yourself suddenly blurting out French words, you hadn’t even realised you knew.’ Mark C

Rusty - your French just needs oiling 🛢️

If you’re rusty and last studied French 100 years ago this course is great for reviving what has been dormant for what feels like a century.

‘I realised that much of my ‘school’ French was still there in my brain.’ Penny Bell

😠 Frustrated with lack of progress after many attempts

Perhaps you’ve tried various courses but you’re frustrated by your progress – I can assure you that you won’t have been taught in this way before. I have techniques and ways of helping you learn that not many teachers use.

‘I have studied French at o level and used various books and cds but I learnt more about French pronunciation in my first lesson with Cecile that I had in all my previous years of trying. The course was interesting and fun. The videos that accompanied the course were fun and easy to watch. I now feel confident and keen to practise what I have learned when next I visit France. Merci beaucoup!’ Chris Armstrong

😫 French at school was a nightmare!

Perhaps you didn’t enjoy French at school because your teacher didn’t inspire you or you just didn’t see the point of learning French at the time. Now you’re an adult you fancy having a go because you actually want to.

'I highly recommend Cecile’s French lessons. Although I learned French at school, I never reached any level of confidence, especially in speaking but I have always regretted not taking my French further.  So, many years later, in spite of feeling like I had forgotten everything from my school days and feeling very fearful about saying French out loud, I decided to give it another go.

I really shouldn’t have worried or hesitated.  Cecile’s beginners’ French course is excellent.  The content is by no means basic or lacking in substance - I have been surprised by how much is covered within the 15 week course. Cecile has a real skill in structuring the lessons in such a way that new aspects of grammar are introduced almost without you being aware of it; there is plenty of repetition and lots of new vocabulary too. The emphasis is very much on understanding and using French as it is used in real life and working on the correct pronunciation.

Cecile’s gift is the fun and humour she brings to her teaching which helps the fear dissolve and makes learning enjoyable. She has plenty of tips to aid the process and she is so encouraging, she really makes you believe you can do it - not without doing any work of course!

Whether you intend to take your learning to the next level or just want to get by on holiday, this course is the ideal place to start.' Lyned Davies

📖 I wish I'd brushed up on my French before going there!

You may have blagued your way around on your last visit to France and come back wishing you’d taken a bit of time to learn more than the basics.

‘I have gone from knowing a few words on a French menu to being able to construct and decipher some (in my opinion!) quite complex sentences. It feels like this progress has been made almost without trying as the lessons are always fun and full of energy.’ Joe Munday

The locals love ❤️ it when you speak to them or try to in their own language

I cannot tell you how many people have recounted stories to me about how appreciative local people were that they were making an effort to speak to them in French even if it was far from perfect. It’s good manners to try to talk in the local language. Plus the thrill you get from nailing a full sentence is just the best feeling!

Chris and Jackie Little’s daughter lives in France with her husband and children. Here’s what they had to say:

'Access to the material used for every lesson is available through an online link. You can view the video of the actual lesson as many times as you want. There is also access to an audio link of the lesson and to the lesson notes so that all learning styles are catered for. We both liked the amusing illustrations shown on the lesson video and the lesson summary. These helped us to remember key words and phrases. We also found the chats in class helpful in giving us ways to remember the French we had been given. Eg. The man in a bath covered in a duvet. This course is ideal for anyone wanting to converse in French. The course is very practical and fun. Scenarios are chosen where you are most likely to need French in order to communicate your thoughts, for example, at the cafe, at the restaurant, at the station, at the boulangerie etc.

Our daughter lives in France and we visit often. We didn't want to have to rely on her when we visit. On completion of the course we can confidently say that now we don't. The 'light bulb moment' when you discover that you've actually spoken recognisable French and got the gist of spoken french as you would hear it on the street. This course is ideal for anyone of any age wishing to spend time in France. Whether that's for a holiday or for those planning a longer stay. We would both like to say thank you. We now feel more confident speaking in French and listening to a French speaker. We can now communicate. We're not saying we're fluent but we're getting there and we can keep accessing the material in order to refresh our understanding when we need to. We're not perfect but we've found that the course has been perfect for us. Looking forward to part 2!!'

This course will give you the words, motivation and confidence on your voyage to getting your French beyond grunting Tarzan level. I'll guide you all the way.

👋👋 Re-bonjour! Let me introduce myself...

I’m CécileBB and I’m a bi-lingual qualified teacher of French with many years experience of teaching. My mother is French and my father is English. I was born in Canada but we moved to France and then settled in the UK mainly in Yorkshire.

As well as languages, psychology, the brain and how people learn are my passion. That's why I did the weird combination of French and Psychology at uni. I put the fun into learning by teaching everyday conversation in an entertaining way and at times downright daft 🤪  that inspires you to pluck up the courage to speak in French however bad it may be!

👩‍🏫 I’ve been teaching languages since 1993 and I have been a student of other foreign languages doing formal lessons and online lessons. I have a lot of experience both as a teacher and as a student. I have created the kind of course I wish I could have had. Many courses I did and teachers I had were good but for me what was missing was the spark of the teacher – the human touch. The best teachers at school were the ones who ‘saw’ you, ‘believed’ in you – not the wooden teacher exterior but gave you a bit of themselves – they were the ones that could make you laugh – that noticed if you were down, that knew that learning wasn’t always plain sailing. The best teachers were the ones that didn’t leave you feeling inadequate or lacking in intelligence. The best teachers showed you how to learn and how to enjoy learning and that learning is for everyone. I want to be that kind of teacher.

⛓️ Escapism

I LOVE CREATING ENGAGING COURSES - not only practical but something you look forward to doing. One of my favourite reviews said ‘It’s not boring!’ Another student told me how she was spiralling into a dark place but luckily managed to motivate herself to start learning French to stimulate herself. She often emails me saying how grateful she is to have fallen upon my courses – while other French courses, she said, were good she found my approach was the one that got her hooked because it made her laugh meaning she wanted to keep coming back. Learning French gave her escapism from the thoughts that were getting her down. She calls me her dealer for her a healthy addiction.

💭 Realistic (but great) expectations!

Many people expect so much of themselves that if they’re not fluent after 5 lessons they think they’re doing something wrong or they’re not clever enough. But it took at least 5 years of full-time training to learn your native language. Learning a foreign language for fun means you're not aiming to be bi-lingual – you’re aiming to get your message across any which way you can. You wouldn’t take up skiing 🎿 and expect to be at the next Winter Olympics which is the level some people expect to be when they take up language learning. You will learn loads but we’re not looking for an Olympic level here – be prepared to fall over but get back up again. If you’re ready to embark on this exciting ‘learn a bit of French’ journey, climb a-board the 🚡 ski-lift avec moi!

You have lifetime access to the lessons so you can take your time – your lifetime...

By the end of this course you’ll have:

👄  A better French accent – don’t worry you’ll still have a cute foreign one but you’ll stand a chance of being better understood.

🕺 💃🏻  More French mojo – knowing how to string a sentence together skyrockets your confidence.

👂 Developed more of an ear for French so you can get a better gist of what is being said to you.

📚 The ability to read French better so you can make more sense of the menus, tourist brochures and travel websites.

🇫🇷  The kind of French that means you can have comedy conversations and make more friends – you’ll learn about those French ways and culture.

🧠  A better brain – there’s plenty of research to show how learning something tricky like a foreign language keeps the grey cells giddy and in good working order.

🤩  A feeling of immense pride – you will have undertaken something many people aspire to do.

If you’re relaxed and enjoying yourself you’ll come back for more ⛱️

Many people start courses but don’t finish them - I know what techniques work, I know that information sticks more if you’re laughing. You’ll be treated to some snippets of singing, silly voices, 🤩 dodgy outfits, daft ways of remembering things.

This course is for you if:

  • you’re a beginner
  • you’ve a bad experience with French in the past
  • you’ve had a good experience with French in the past but now you would like to update it (more and more of new French is English said with a French accent)
  • you just fancy a challenge to keep you on your toes or to escape for a bit
  • you want to get much better at French without spending thousands of pounds

Get stuck into learning French in a relaxed informal way that will leave you regretting rien!

Get Beyond Tarzan Level - Fun Holiday French for Adults is an exciting course that not only teaches you how to string French sentences together with a better accent – but more importantly, it builds your confidence to actually have a go at speaking French with real life French people!

Practical French that's fun to learn - you won't believe the progress you can make in just a few hours. C'est super! 🍾
Merci beaucoup,
Your very excited French teacher,

CécileBB :-)

Allez - c'est parti! C'mon - let's get going!

CécileBB :-)

You'll also step into the time travelling machine the Tardis and revise the present & past tense as well as step into the future. Exciting! Oui oui!

D'accord, allons-y! Let's get to it.
