Coucou ! Cooeee !

Vous revoilà! Here you are again! You just can't get enough - in the words of Depeche Mode! 🕶️  (incidentally they got their name from a French magazine - which translated to 'hurried fashion or fashion dispatch').

You've done the present perfect ✅ 📋 (one of the past tenses where you could tick off and explain all you have done to any willing listeners), you've done the 🕺🏽  💃🏿  Cha Cha Cha of French Adjectives, you've done the present tense of the Essential 🥖 🚰  Bread & Water Verbs and lastly you picked your way through the 🥀  Pot 🥀  Pourri 🥀  course (🔗 conjunctions, 💋 prepositions & 🐦 pronouns).

Compared to the walking in high heels 👠  course 6 - Pot Pourri 🥀  🥀  🥀 - This one will feel like you're slipping on your favourite pair of slippers. Ahhh!

There's 3 hours of video (broken down bien sûr) and 🎧  audio and drilling practice galore - you'll deserve a medal at the end of it. 🎖️

Knowing the present tense of verbs is incredibly useful because they're the gateway verbs to the other moods and tenses.

For example - to form the dreaded subjunctive mood you take the 3rd person plural (ils/elles they) conjugation in the present tense - remove the -ent ending then add the special subjunctive endings (e, es, e, ions, iez, ent). That applies to all French verbs except for a handful of the usual crew of quirky, essential & gangster verbs.

Then to form the imperfect 🧘🏾‍♀️  (the continuous past tense) you you take the 1st person plural (nous we) conjugation in the present tense - remove the -ons ending then add the special imperfect endings (ais, ais, ait, ions, iez, aient). That applies to all French verbs except for a être (some other verbs may add a letter or an accent but that it)!

You also use the nous stem for the present participle and add the present participle ending - ant.

All that to say that you will have a much easier time forming the subjunctive, the imperfect & the present participle if you know the present tense patterns.

Once you have done a few of these lessons a few times 🔁  you'll really get a feel for these patterns. It will 🔍 demystify the French code which may have eluded you until now. Once you've got the hang of these they'll feel very familiar and find them coming out of your mouth without having to think about it too much - and that feels really goooooooooooooood! 🎊

'I would highly recommend these classes. Cecile is friendly and makes the classes fun. However, the classes are very clearly structured and you will find yourself learning so much without realising it! I had been looking for a class for years. I studied French to A level back in the 60s and wanted to try to resurrect my knowledge and gain some confidence in actually speaking it. I had tried other, more formal classes in colleges but the emphasis seemed all wrong; too much written French and learning to say phrases and sentences few people actually use! After only a few classes with Cecile, I’m definitely gaining confidence and finding I’m able to remember what I’m learning in class without a lot of effort at home which is a tribute to the way in which she teaches so that all new learning is reinforced.' Whether you’re a beginner or an ‘old’ learner wanting to revisit the subject, you should try these classes. I’ve been surprised at how much new stuff I’ve learned in addition to finding that some of the dormant knowledge is coming to life again. Another huge positive for me is that, because the classes feel so relaxed and fun, I am able to motivate myself after a difficult day at work which is another credit to Cecile’s teaching style. The teaching materials are brilliant! Excellent videos explaining any grammatical points very clearly and in ways to help you remember easily. In addition, you receive a summary of the lessons so you don’t have to write everything down. This means you can concentrate and participate fully but also have the notes ready made for you. These are certainly the best value language lessons you’ll find. Cynthia Powell

As I said this course is not too difficult compared to the others. So I've taken advantage of this by including a lot of 'new' verbs so you build up your French verb collection and increase your vocabulary. Every extra word helps - I've tried to keep them words and expressions you're likely to come across in everyday conversational French. Some of it is more obscure but I've put it in because it's funny. 🤣 😂 🤣

So if you'd like to get yourself into the lotus position and get into the present - get out your mat, cross your legs and venez ommmmmer avec moi! 🧘  🧘🏿  🧘🏽‍♂️

Bon - sans further ado - allons-y

They're all beautiful in their own way though. It won't be long before you start to get a feel for the patterns.

You'll learn plenty of new verbs which means you'll be able to say and understand more in le French!
